About The Missing Set
If you’ve spent time around competitive swimming — as a coach, a swimmer, or a parent — you already know that the sport trains almost everything. Except mindset.
When it comes to what happens when the race doesn’t go to plan, when the pressure compounds, when a swimmer who dominates practice unravels at championships — the sport largely assumes they’ll figure it out.
Most don’t. Not reliably. Not without help.
The Missing Set exists to close that gap.
Here you’ll find practical, swim-specific frameworks and tools you can actually implement — with your swimmers, inside your program, as an integral part of training. Not an afterthought. Not a hype speech before a big meet. Something built into how you prepare.
Why I’m the one building this
I’ve spent fifty years in and around competitive swimming — as an age grouper, a Division I athlete at Dartmouth, a Masters swimmer, and a swim parent who watched her daughter come up through New England Swimming. I’ve seen the mindset gap from every angle.
I’ve also spent decades at IBM turning some of the most complex problems in technology — quantum computing among them — into frameworks that people can actually understand and use. Now I bring that same rigor to the one part of swim training the sport has never quite solved.
Mindset in swimming doesn’t need more inspiration. It needs to become something concrete, accessible, and usable. That’s what I’m building here.
